Welcome Shoot The Breeze newsletter readers, friends and family
Welcome Pensacola, Gulf Breeze, Destin, Orange Beach, etc. resident lovers of artful children’s portrait photography. As noted in the Look Who Just Blouin newsletter, my blog is the place to find the latest info on my business.
While you’re here, take a look through some of my most recent posts. You will see some beautiful photographs and may just recognize some of the faces. Of course behind each face is a beautiful story too. As a creative photographer, I strive very hard to allow the personalities of those I photograph to come through in the photos I take.
Enjoy and thanks for visiting!
Trista
In the meantime, here is an adorable little girl dressed up in her mama’s shoes.

Book release, exhibit openings, and TV interviews, oh my.
November 9th is the release date for the book, “Faces of Life.” This book contains the stories and photos of individuals who have been personally touched by the services of Covenant Hospice. I photographed all the stories of the individuals in the Pensacola, Milton, and Mobile areas. Two of my photos will grace the cover of the book. My photos have also been chosen to represent the book on over 100 billboards throughout Northwest Florida.
Covenant and Ballinger Publishing, as of this time, have lined up for me three book signings and photo exhibits. They are as follows:
-November 9, 5-7 p.m., Gallery 88 at WUWF: This will be the official unveiling of the new book. Local celebrities will be on hand to speak. My exhibit of eighteen pieces will be opened and I will be signing books. For every book purchased this evening, a DVD slideshow produced by me will be included.
-November 13, 5-6 p.m., Dragonfly Gallery in Milton: Book signing and exhibit opening.
-November 27, 12-2 p.m., Mobile Library: Reception. Meet the artist and see the exhibit.
All proceeds from the purchase of the Faces of Life book go directly to Covenant Hospice, so please support the events listed above. The book will also be available at other locations, with more info to follow.
You will also be able to see my ugly mug on channel six in the Pensacola region as I’m interviewed concerning my involvement with the project. Check local listings for times.

Back from a kingdom far, far away
Our family just returned from a trip to Disney-world. My husband and girls have never been and it was so neat to see the magic spell wrap itself around them (especially my girls). We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and it was phenomenal. The resort was built like a national park lodge, but a lot more cleaner and organized. If you decide to stay on-site, this is the one I would recommend the highest. My oldest daughter was chosen as the official sheriff for one of the days; she was given a hat, scarf, and badge to go along with the honor or ruling the roost. They enjoyed the wrap around pool, waterfalls, waterslides, hot springs spa, and geyser.
We visited Magic Kingdom, MGM, and Animal Kingdom during our stay. I must say we picked the perfect time to visit. The parks were very easy to manuever and we were able to pretty much walk on to all the rides. The girls enjoyed meeting all the characters, getting their autographs, and having their picture taken with them. At MGM, the girls were approached by a cast member and invited to be in the parade. They walked in the parade and were given VIP treatment for their involvement.
The girls are fascinated with princesses (isn’t that a right of passage for most girls). So I allowed them to choose a princess that they wanted to be and I purchased their gowns and accessories to go with each outfit. On our last night at the resort, I made reservations for Artist Point (I figured since I am an artist I would see if it jived with my tastes). The girls dressed in their princess outfits and we went down to the main areas of the lodge (their castle) and took photos of their special evening. As official princesses, they were treated to VIP service at the restaurant from pulling out their chairs to having the manager come and personally thank them for gracing their establishment. It was a magical way to end the trip.
Waving to their subjects from the tower:

Giving the King (daddy) a kiss:

This photo makes my heart skip a beat, on the “drawbridge:”

One of the many characters they met. I love Sophie’s expresssion in this photo:

Here is a photo of the new Everest/Yeti ride taken in the distance at Animal Kingdom. This was the girls favorite ride.

Back to work…

Fun with mom and dad
It is so much fun to watch my little clients play with their parents. They thrive under their mom and dad’s undivided attention. Isn’t it wonderful, as a parent, to know that we are the center of our child’s universe? So marvelous, but yet so sobering to know that we hold so much power in our hands to mold their worldviews.
You can see the admiration and love in this little guy as he is treated to one-on-one time with each of his parents.

Peaceful morning
The schools in the area have fall breaks over the next couple of weeks. A time to enjoy time without homework, football, and rushing here and there is a welcome break after nine weeks of working hard.
These two seemed to enjoy their morning of freedom.
