Back from a kingdom far, far away

October 19, 2006

Our family just returned from a trip to Disney-world. My husband and girls have never been and it was so neat to see the magic spell wrap itself around them (especially my girls).  We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and it was phenomenal. The resort was built like a national park lodge, but a lot more cleaner and organized. If you decide to stay on-site, this is the one I would recommend the highest. My oldest daughter was chosen as the official sheriff for one of the days; she was given a hat, scarf, and badge to go along with the honor or ruling the roost. They enjoyed the wrap around pool, waterfalls, waterslides, hot springs spa, and geyser.

We visited Magic Kingdom, MGM, and Animal Kingdom during our stay. I must say we picked the perfect time to visit. The parks were very easy to manuever and we were able to pretty much walk on to all the rides. The girls enjoyed meeting all the characters, getting their autographs, and having their picture taken with them. At MGM, the girls were approached by a cast member and invited to be in the parade. They walked in the parade and were given VIP treatment for their involvement.

The girls are fascinated with princesses (isn’t that a right of passage for most girls). So I allowed them to choose a princess that they wanted to be and I purchased their gowns and accessories to go with each outfit. On our last night at the resort, I made reservations for Artist Point (I figured since I am an artist I would see if it jived with my tastes). The girls dressed in their princess outfits and we went down to the main areas of the lodge (their castle) and took photos of their special evening. As official princesses, they were treated to VIP service at the restaurant from pulling out their chairs to having the manager come and personally thank them for gracing their establishment. It was a magical way to end the trip.
