A true Once Upon a Time – Storybook Autumn Wedding in Maine

There were these two beautiful souls who stumbled upon each other and like the positive and negative ions in a magnet were drawn together. Two years later, they officially joined their lives as husband and wife before about 70 family and friends in the beautiful town of Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

The day before the wedding it got a little stressful as it was rainy and windy and there were guests arriving from thousands of miles away. I caught this photo of Mike (the groom) as he hugs a cup of coffee and looks out over the rainy bay.

But the wedding day turned out to be one of the most gorgeous fall days I’ve ever seen (and I grew up in northern Minnesota).

I would love to show more photos from the two days I was there, but I can’t because I do not have “model” releases for anyone other than the bride and groom. I will end with this beautiful panoramic shot taken of the resort where the wedding was held, Spruce Point Inn.

Making room in your hearts and homes

I had the opportunity to work with two sisters who are waiting to be adopted here in the Escambia/Santa Rosa area by participating in the national ”Art of Adoption” project. They reminded me of a typical sibling pair, disagreeing one moment and fixing each other’s hair the next. One loves basketball while the other wants to be a model.

I listened to their story of their tragic losses while my camera captured them together. Photos don’t lie.  I realized later while looking through the photos that their way of getting through everything while maintaining a cheerful, positive attitude lied in their reliance on each other. Look at the way the are linked in these photos and tell me otherwise.

Can you open your hearts and homes to these girls? If you would like more information, you can email me or contact FamiliesFirst Network directly at 866-313-9874.

Mother Wonder

I photographed this family in Atlanta in their church’s garden.  The little boy saw the statue of Mary and hiked through the greenery to gently reach up and touch her lips. His eyes were filled with wonder and admiration over a very famous mother shrouded in a miracle.

On the other side of the garden his mother was gently touching her lips to her little girl’s temple as she no doubt wondered at the miracle within her arms.

Bubbly

There is a song on the radio right now called Bubbly. It talks about the feeling you get inside when you are infatuated with someone in a new relationship. I think it is popular because everyone can understand it, craves it, and enjoys the euphoria that accompanies it. I think childhood should be a series of “Bubblies.” No other time in life should we be given the opportunity to live in the euphoria of unadulterated discovery.

Here’s to Bubblies…

Maine

I got up to Maine this morning. I was hired to photograph a wedding in Boothbay Harbor this weekend, but decided to spend one day to indulge my life long desire to see and capture the color and cliffs of Maine. What a profound experience. The beauty is breathtaking.

My Girls in Atlanta

This past weekend I went to Atlanta for shoots and decided to bring my husband and girls along so we could spend some down time together at a few of the sites in Atlanta. We stayed at the Renaissance on the 24th floor and we could see Georgia Tech from our balcony. Since my oldest is a huge science/tech fan, I was excited to point out all the neat buildings on campus, from a bird’s eye view.

Here they are, you can see GT off to the right.

We decided to go to the Aquarium, and while waiting for the driver to pick up us up, the girls, specifically Liliana, stayed busy:

This fish really impressed me. It swam right up to me at the glass window, all 4 feet of him. Beautiful.

My Yearly Repeat Clients

It is such a pleasure to see my yearly clients that come back every fall. Because I really get to know the families I work with, I’m honored to be invited into their lives, I’m allowed to tell the story of their growth and evolution.

Here is a wonderfully upbeat and fun Pensacola family enjoying a morning at the beach.
