Day Off

This Pensacola family had taken the day off to spend at the beach together as a family. They were very much at ease and the photos show it.

Six month old lil’ guy in my baby plan

It is such a pleasure to watch these little ones develop a personality.

Love this one…it is screaming for a caption though, I have one in mind, but would love to hear what others come up with… ideas?

Eden Gardens

To my long time blog readers: remember my contest in January that asked for submissions of the best off-the-beaten path places to conduct a photo session? The winner, as you remember, was Eden Gardens. Well, I finally had the opportunity to do a session there and it was simply amazing. If you get a chance to visit, you will truly enjoy your stay. I adored the rose garden and the reflecting pond, but the whole place was gorgeous.

Quick update on casting call

I am still seeking subjects for my exhibit. I’ve got quite a few children, but am still in need of more racial representation and children in the upper age ranges (6-8). You can find all the info in my post earlier this month. Thanks for all those who have emailed me with their interest in the project. It has been heartwarming to see the solidarity in this community and gives me great hope in a more harmonious future here in Pensacola.

Again, if you haven’t heard back from me, you should probably try emailing me again. I’ve gotten a lot of response and have tried to get back to everyone but I may have overlooked your email. trista@lookwhojustblouin.com. Thanks! This is going to be a huge deal and I am so excited to see it coming together.

Just Beautiful

Wow, this entire family was simply stunning, all with piercing blue eyes and gorgeous features. Best of all, they were sincere, kind, and very comical.

Front Row Seat

How fortunate this family is to have the pleasure of waking each morning to look out their front window and see this amazing sight out at Pensacola Beach. Not to mention not having to try and make their way out to the beach on Blue Angel Weekend. That alone has to be worth the yearly mortgage payments.

Backyard Together Time

I was walking through Lowes the other day and it occurred to me how much value we place on our backyard spaces. It seemed like 1/4 of the store was dedicated to the sacred backyard. I have to admit, I love our own backyard, for it is a place where the kids have their safe place where they can play to their heart’s content and we can sit as a family and enjoy bbq or I can sit on a Sunday morning, sipping my coffee and listening to the birds. The backyard is a symbol of American life, long gone are the days when the front porch was the symbol. With life running at such a hectic pace, we have decided to give our little precious relaxing time to our families on the back porch. Here is a family spending some time in the backyard with each other.

Nice change of pace

I spend most of my time shooting outside in the summer so it is really a nice change of pace when I can shoot in the air conditioning. :) This family was great to work with. I photographed the oldest guy when he was a newborn…

Pensacola Newborn

Now he is a big brother to a little guy who can be termed his “mini-me.” The parents are stunned at how much they look alike. Do you agree? (And yes, dad is a guitar player.)

Guitar Baby

I loved their rooms, the mom is extremely talented with interior design. I have encouraged her to consider starting a business, she is that good. This photo screamed “please make me a watercolor” with all the strong patterns and beach attitude.

Happy Independence Day!

When I work with children, I see so much potential in their various strengths and passion. I have to imagine that with the right encouragement and opportunity, that they will someday grow to be wildly successful adults. Our country was once like a child too, great potential, with encouragement it took the brave steps to become independent and great. It is amazing how far our country has come. I know it has had its setbacks (and which one of us hasn’t made mistakes in our own lives) but the basis on which it is founded, its principles, are great. Why is the US so great? Because it is a nation based on the will of the people and I believe that most people are good and want the best for each other. We all just need to remember that and make our voices heard. I love this quote from our 12th president…

Territory is but the body of a nation.  The people who inhabit its hills and valleys are its soul, its spirit, its life.  ~James Garfield

In that vein, here are some of these lovely souls from Gulf Breeze…
