Beautiful Dancer

Here is a gorgeous high school senior from Gulf Breeze.

Here we are on a beach that still bears the remnants of Hurricane Ivan…

And wow, what an amazing, award-winning dancer…spike heels and tight jeans and she still got this high, WOW – I need to pin this photo to my goals and ambitions bulletin board!

New Parents

It doesn’t matter how many years I photograph new parents, my heart never fails to spill over when I capture them snuggling their new little ones.

Oh, My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose

Happy Valentine’s Day friends! Will you be my Valentine? This is my absolute favorite holiday…I’m a huge romantic. I wanted to share a recent session and a few stanzas from a beautiful poem to go with it. Enjoy!

Oh, my love is like a red, red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June.
Oh, my love is like the melody,
That’s sweetly played in tune.

So fair art thou, my bonny lass,
So deep in love am I,
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.
~Robert Burns

Enjoy Each Other Unabashedly,

Another Sunrise Graduate

Here is another baby who was part of my Sunrise Incentive Program – a unique frequent-photography program for baby’s first year of life.

Here he is with his mom playing patty-cake…

Playing with his older sister, torturing a magnolia flower…

and here is sister…

If you are:

  1. Pregnant
  2. Going to a baby shower
  3. About to be a grandparent

Contact me for info on this great program for either you or the person you care about. I’ll let you know about how we can work together to document the unique milestones of baby’s first year. Remember, time goes by very fast and you can never get that back.

Day 6 – Week of Surprises – Appreciating Art

So you have been on the fence about hiring a custom children’s photography artist. Can I push you over? Here are two very good reasons to consider it…

1. Your child is only this age once. You will NEVER, not for a million dollars, get a chance to hold your baby’s two feet inside your hands or see them take their first steps once it is over and past. But if you have a portrait of those unique milestones, you can relive that moment – that emotion tied to that moment – for the rest of your life. Imagine how precious that will be when you see your child graduate, walk down the wedding aisle, or have their first child.

2. A good custom children’s photographer will combine the ability to capture childhood moments with the artistic elements (composition, lighting, color, motion, texture, etc.). I’m sure you’ve seen photos that were cute kid’s but the photo didn’t please the eye. You’ve also probably seen portraits made where the color, lighting, and composition were great but you didn’t connect with the photo because the child was not connected with the photographer.

The greatest artists in history were able to freeze time, many times capturing the emotion of the human spirit, and portraying it in away that elicits emotion in others. Who are your favorite artists? What are your favorite pieces? Please post a comment to this post with a link to one of your favorite artists and/or art pieces (www.art.com has a huge selection of the best art pieces ever made). Include a sentence as to why you like them/it. It will be really neat to read the various perspectives.

When you make a comment you will have a post number. Whichever post number is closest to Saturday night’s first Powerball number (drawn at 10 p.m.) will be the winner of this awesome prize package:

1. A pass to a children’s art lesson workshop at the Pensacola Museum of Art. There will be different subjects held each Saturday this spring.

2. Two passes to the Pensacola Museum of Art. They have an amazing children’s art exhibit running right now.

3. A $40 gift certificate to the Fish House. What a great Saturday for the family: PMA and lunch at the Fish House!

4. A set of notecards with one of my fine art photographs printed on the front of each.

Enjoy perusing! ~Trista

Day 5 – Week of Surprises – Taking Care of Yourself

One of the things that I hear most often from moms is that they have very little time for themselves. One of the ways I try to help with that is by coming to your home for the photo session. This is especially appreciated by new moms. The last thing they want to do in their sleep deprived state (often recovering from a c-section surgery) is get their precious new bundle packed up and get themselves dolled up to go to a studio where they will be exposed to all kinds of germs from other children. My new moms are dressed in their lounge clothes and take nursing breaks whenever the need may arise. It is a very calm, organic experience.

Moms, for today’s contest, I would love for you to share a piece of advice with the new moms who will be reading this. Let’s make their lives a little easier by sharing the things we’ve learned. Go ahead and post them right in the comment section of this post. I’ll start: Get a fan for the babies room. My babies loved the sound of the white noise it produced and they were never awoken by loud noises like the doorbell. Plus, in the summer it was nice to have it blowing  on me while I nursed and rocked my youngest. Now it’s your turn!

So this is a REALLY awesome prize…I will have my neighbor draw a name from all the entries and the winner will get a gift certificate for a one-hour massage, in your Pensacola home, by the very best massage therapist I have ever worked with. I have worked with over 10 massage therapists in my life and I have never met someone who was able to have a sixth sense for knowing how to take care of sore muscles and tension…she is a miracle worker! Jamie Turner is a fully licensed massage therapist (Lic42262) who travels the Pensacola area, bringing the best pain relief and relaxation to her clients. She brings her table and supplies into your home; I love the convenience, and she is a genuinely wonderful person to boot! The winner will also receive a $100 gift card from Look Who Just Blouin Photography.

Day 4 – Week of Surprises – Priceless Expressions

I was looking through some old photographs of my two elementary-aged children and I came across one of my youngest when she was about 4…she was very tired and I captured that look she gives me when she just wants to curl up with her blankie and snuggle with her mama…

My other daughter knows how to scowl, it isn’t pretty, but it shows her fierce independence and I love it, here she is four and a half years ago…

Our faces show so many expressions, and as parents, we see those expressions that are so unique to our child. When you work with me, I will make it my goal to capture those unique expressions and not just the “say cheese” moments.

For today’s contest, please email me a photo that is uniquely your child that is NOT a smiling photo..a facial expression please . Email it to trista@lookwhojustblouin.com by midnight Thursday. I will put all entries up tomorrow on the blog for voting if I get at least five entries. One entry per person please.

The top two winners will each receive a digital photo album key-chain (a $40 value) and a $100 gift card to Look Who Just Blouin Photography.
