Reminder: Senior Week Approaching Fast
If you know of a 2010 Senior, make sure to let them know about my Senior Week. You can check out the details of the great deals I’m offering for sessions that week by checking out the initial blog post.
My sessions are set up differently than my regular sessions. The type of session we conduct is based on how many locations and outfit changes the senior wishes to use. I also offer three different print packages. The Silver and Gold include portfolios and and Platinum includes an Art Photo Book. All packages include the coveted wallets that seniors love to hand out to their friends.
Here is a photo of my Gold Package from a recent senior session.

And here is the first page from a boy’s Senior Art Photo Book I’m working on right now (with the name blurred out obviously):

and here is a two-page spread from one of the girl’s books I’ve made this year:
Don’t regret not getting a custom senior session for your son or daughter. These photos will be treasured for years to come as your child shifts gears to being an adult, leaving home and taking on adult responsibilities. Call me and book their session during Senior Week and you’ll get a family photo session next December at no additional charge, one last chance to have a beautiful family portrait before your child leaves the nest. Call 712-1513 or email me: trista@lookwhojustblouin.com.

Cute Lil’ Guy
I photographed this little boy’s older brother and parents a few years ago. It was fun to capture the contemplative nature of this toddler and to spend time with the rest of his family as well.

And here he is with his older brother…

Picasso, the Universe, Babies, etc.
My two daughters and I were at the book story a couple weeks ago and we happened to stumble upon a table of coffee table art books. My girls seemed to be drawn to the book on Picasso’s work as his cubism style, with its abstract forms, appealed to their lack of interest in “coloring within the lines.” We flipped through the pages and they shared their thoughts with me on various pieces. When I got home, I still had him on my mind and I pulled out my art books to spend some quality time w/his work. So how does this relate to the photos I’m going to share today you may be asking? Well, I found out that Picasso died exactly 36 years ago to that day in the same year that I was born. What a funky coincidence that the universe brought my attention to this great man’s work who championed the beauty of the human form and the innate value of each of us. His philosophy on art and life in general resonates with my own feelings so closely.
Here is a quote I found from him that goes so nicely with the photos I’m going to share…
“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.”
Our babies are our world and our future; everything radiates out from that just like this photo shows…

The Winner of my Donated Door Prize
In January, I donated a photo session and print credit for the door prize at our monthly Junior League meeting. I could not have picked a better family to win. Jennifer and I met before she became pregnant and she would comment on how she enjoyed my style of photography. Life got busy and before you know it time had marched on. Her and I both were thrilled when London Bounds called her name at the end of the meeting because we both knew we were meant to work together someday.
They’ve been wonderful clients: gracious and open, very kind and lovers of artistic composition. I am so lucky to have been able to capture them in their natural setting enjoying their time with each other.

The Reflective Quality of Happiness
I got a phone call today from someone wanting to express to me the joy they felt when they first saw the portraits I’d created for them. They were bubbling over with joy at seeing the happiness of their family reflected back in the captures. That really made me feel just wonderful and it occurred to me that happiness is like a house of mirrors. When we allow ourselves to be a mirror it can’t help but illuminate someone else’s life. I try to use my camera to reflect the happiness given to me by my subjects and the wonderful feeling it creates in me. It’s a win-win for everyone. Here is a great quote by David Baird from the book “A Thousand Paths to Happiness.”
“Bring a ray of happiness into other people’s lives, and feel its warmth reflected back into your own.”
Here are a few rays that I hope bring just as much happiness to this family as the family I mentioned in my first paragraph.

and here is a split-toned black and white to end with…

There’s a reason the Little Rascals were so popular
They were so darn cute. When I was photographing this little guy I kept thinking that he reminded me of some cute TV character. A few days ago, it occurred to me who he reminded me of…

Now be honest, does this little guy not remind you of Spanky (pictured above)?

One of my “Regulars” that I love to see each year
I am so happy when I get a call from C.J. I adore photographing her, Dax, and her two little ones. I captured this session at Eden Gardens.
